Brand strength and sentiment analysis

Our client is operating in the retail market for heaters. As a part of a larger diligence process and preparation for a sale, the client wanted a broad picture on how their brand and products were perceived by consumers. In particular, how the consumers' perceived our client's brand compared to their perception of other market players.

The challenge

Asking customers of the client and other market player about how their experiences with different heater is a costly and challenging exercise. Furthermore, using average rating on online reviews gives limited insights on how customers experience different products. The challenge is to summarise and derive meaning from the actual text written in online reviews.

The outcome

We used natural language processing techniques to get a quick overview of how customers described the brand of our client as well as other market players. We summarized our results by focusing on words that were mentioned frequently for specific brands.
