Benchmarking real estate projects

Our client, a leading real estate developer, wanted to gain insights on the cost development in their portfolio to make better decisions for future investments.

The challenge

The client wanted improved structure in their cost reporting to obtain insights on trends in key performance indicators and easily identify projects that underperform expectations. Previously the client's subdivisions had been using various cost reporting tools, which made comparison of costs throughout their project portfolio challenging. The client requested a dynamic visualisation tool to benchmark new projects against current and previous projects.

The outcome

Deliverables included a new model for standardised project cost projections and reporting to be used throughout the company. This model serves as input for the final dashboard.

We applied advanced data blending and modelling techniques to create and deliver a dynamic visualisation tool where the client could immediately get an overview of key performance indicators relating to costs of ongoing and finished projects. Drilling down further, the dashboard allows detailed analysis of project costs, down to a single line going into the model.
